From 1 January - 31 March 2016 people from all over Europe were invited to share their ideas with us, about how to increase the awareness of European citizens about the importance of the ocean for us, and the importance of our daily actions, for the ocean.
People were asked to make a video in which they presented their idea. For each of the seven countries involved in this contest, one winner was chosen. The winning idea will serve as a basis for developing an education or outreach event that will be organised in the respective country.
National winners get a chance to spend a day behind the scenes of an aquarium or science centre, or along the side of a marine scientist. One overall European winner has been selected on the basis of the total number of votes the video received and will be awarded a GoPro Hero Silver action camera.
We want to send a big thank you to everyone who participated in our Think Big, Think Ocean contest and helped make it a success!
The national winners of the Think Big, Think Ocean contest are highlighted in the following map:
A special congratulations to Safe Coastal Tourism (Jasper Stuer and Caroline Danneels), the overall winner of the ideas contest who will be awarded a GoPro Hero Silver camera Grand Prize for their achievement. Their video entry (see below) received 446 votes, the most of any entrant!
